So the National Prayer Breakfast is sickeningly hypocritical enough with Trump emoting "Every life is sacred and every soul is a precious gift from heaven,” all while caging children and separating them from their families. The forced-birther fetish was on display in the erupted applause from Republican men during the State of the Union, as of course this culture-of-life rhetoric is designed to put a holy face on policies that would strip women of fundamental control over their bodies.
But Donny can’t keep the ruse straight, can he. He had to go and let the cat out of the bag during his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast. He recycled some of his most pious SOTU lines but also told a rare truth:
Since the founding of our nation, many of our greatest strides – from gaining our independence to abolition of civil rights to extending the vote for women – have been led by people of faith
I’ll leave it right there. Funny the Fox News coverage omitted the gaffe and loaded up its story with quotes like:
Today and every day let us pray for the future of our country, let us pray for courage to pursue justice, and wisdom to forge peace. For a future where every child is warm, safe, in a loving home….Let us come together for people, the strength of families, the safety of citizens, fulfillment of deepest hopes and highest potential, and let us always give thanks for the miracle of life, creation, and the grace of God.
How anyone buys this stuff coming out of his mouth is beyond me.
